As the World Wide Web continues to evolve and becomes more thoroughly imbedded in our lives, today’s connections between people increase online, with social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, becoming all the rage in online social interaction.

With the advancement of professional SEO, as well as the inclusion of “social signals” in determining the relevance and authority of different sites and used as factor in their ranking algorithm, a lot of Search Engine Optimization Firms have included building social networking site profiles as one of their search engine optimization services as they recognize the power of these sites to SEO.

Endeavoring to bring out the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions, Google, one of the major search engine companies in the net today, expands its realms to the social networking world with its insightful answer to Facebook, the “Google+ project”.

What is G+?

Google + is the latest social networking site of Google Inc. It is quite similar to Facebook. It features a collection of different social products such as Stream (a newsfeed), Sparks (a recommendation engine), Hangouts (a video chat service), Huddle (a group texting service), Circles (a friend management service) and Photos.

G+ FEATURES

Respecting people’s freedom to be who they want to be, Google+’s impressively awesome features provide more ways for people to stay private or go public with more meaningful choices around their friends and their data.

1. G+ Profiles

The Profile page is the first thing that you should fill up once you have your Google+ account set up. You can also liven it up with your other important details to make it look interesting for others to connect with you.

2. G+ Circles

Google Plus Circles gives you the ability to control your privacy, the posts, and over both what you share and what content pops up in your stream. It allows you to have complete control over the entire social interaction as Circles allows for customization.

The drag and drop feature in the Circles screen enables you to drag-and-drop your friends into different circle friend groups. Each circle of friends signifies completely different friend groups so you don’t mix one with the other. It removes the chance of accidentally sharing risk information intended for one group of friend to another.

To add friends to a circle is easy. All you have to do is drag-and-drop your friends into the appropriate circle. You can also add friends into as many circles as you want. You can also select multiple friends and drag and drop them into a circle.

By default, the friend in your Google Contacts is suggested. However, you are also allowed to look for friends by importing your address book from Yahoo!, Hotmail or your desktop.

Clicking on a circle enables you more granular control over adding and removing friends. To remove friends, you just drag-and-drop from in the circle to outside the circle.

A circle also allows you to rename your circle, write a short description about it, view the stream for your circle, open your circle in a tab and delete your circle.

3. G+ Hangouts (A video Chat Service)

This is a video chat feature that allows you to meet up with up to 10 friends in your “Circles” via a live multi-person video. It can be switched from person to person, depending on who’s talking into the microphone. It also has text chat feature for groups so you can able to send instant messages to your group or circle of friends.

4. G+ Sparks (Recommendation Engine)

It allows you to add or follow topics you find interesting and directly share, comment or post them to your friends or circles.

5. G+ Photos

This feature allows you to create albums and upload photos. It also enables you to check out photos in which you’ve been tagged on another section of Photos.

6. G+ Mobile

This feature is for iphone and Android mobile users where it allows users to instantly upload their photos taken via their cell phone, and then add these photos to a private album. User can even add their location to every post.
